The inventor of the beloved chocolate hazelnut spread that invades our very dreams has died at the age of 97. Francesco Rivella was a chemist who went to work for Ferrero before they became an internationally renowned brand. Many delicious creations came out of their “chemistry room”, but it could be argued that the best of them is Rivella’s Nutella.
It should also be known that you can buy A LOT of Nutella at once. 3kg of it, in fact. There’s even a video on how to use it.
Though Francesco Rivella led a long life that had an impact on so many of us, what makes the loss extra sad is the fact that he passed away on Valentine’s Day. Just days after World Nutella Day on February 5th.
