Canada’s Liberal Party Debate took place yesterday…the French one. Mark Carney, Chrystia Freeland, Karina Gould and Frank Baylis are the 4 contenders to be Canada’s next Liberal Leader. LOTS of talk about Donald Trump, with each Candidate saying they could for sure deal with him. In addition to Canada-U.S. relations, other spicy topics included growing the economy, protecting the environment while securing Canada’s energy future, affordability, housing and health care.

But the part that stuck out the most, was that apparently “The debate overall was fairly cordial with the candidates saying multiple times that they agree with one another”. For real?! That’s almost shocking. So many times you watch a Political debate and it’s nothing but arguing, interrupting, maybe some name calling and a few insults for good measure. But not these 4. They’re just super chill and having a great time. In French! Mark Carney got some flack for a few French slip ups, but if it’s not your first language a few mistakes are probably going to happen.
