We’re so back. Really, “Joe Canadian” never left. The man who played the character in the Molson Canadian ads 25 years ago is named Jeff Douglas and he’s been kicking around on CBC Radio for a long time now – currently hosting Mainstreet Nova Scotia. But the rant has returned and the timing is precise.

With help from an ‘anonymous collective’ Jeff was able to bring an updated diatribe about the awesomeness of Canada to the table. One that is not about blind patriotism, but about our strength and compassion and resilience. We have had extremely dark chapters in our past – ones that we continue to explore and atone for. But we have been a shining example and a force for decency in the world, and we’re not going to be pushed around without the gloves coming off.

So from all of us here in the frozen Canadian north: Thanks, eh?
