Hey Saskatoon, just a quick note—police have been getting reports of counterfeit cash lately. Since November, there’ve been eight fraud complaints about fake bills. Two recent cases involved phony $100 notes, and both a business and an individual lost several thousand dollars each. It’s showing up in private sales and stores, so it can happen to anyone.
Real Canadian bills are made of polymer (that plastic feel) and have a few easy-to-spot security features: a clear window with holograms, raised ink on the portrait, and a shiny stripe that changes colour when you tilt it.
If you get a suspicious bill, don’t pass it on—call Saskatoon Police at 306-975-8300. You won’t get your money back otherwise, so it’s worth double-checking.
