For a lot of people, going to the dentist is like going to the gym…we know we should do it twice a year, but somehow it ends up being once every time we elect a new Prime Minister. Dentists do recommend a visit every six months, but let’s be honest: most of us only remember the dentist exists when a random molar starts hurting, like a tiny, angry fire drill.
SOME people are ridiculously dedicated, showing up for their cleanings like clockwork with floss in their pockets and toothpaste recommendations ready to go. These are the dental overachievers — the unicorns of oral hygiene. The rest of us are just hoping the hygienist won’t ask if we’ve been flossing. (We haven’t. Unless flossing frantically the night before counts.)
In reality, how often you go to the dentist comes down to fear, insurance coverage, and how much one values chewing without pain. So, whether you’re a twice-a-year oeverachiever or someone who thinks dental appointments are optional in the game of life, just remember: your teeth are permanent roommates. Be nice to them.
