After nearly two months of rolling strikes that began in September 2025, Canada Post and the union representing 55,000 workers have reached a tentative agreement. The deal suspends all strike and lockout activity while final wording is finalized and members vote.
This marks the second major disruption in just over a year—the previous strike ended in December 2024 when the government ordered workers back. With losses topping $1 billion last year and heading toward $1.5 billion this year, big changes are coming: the end of door-to-door delivery for millions of homes, slower letter service, rural post office closures, and higher stamp prices.
Fingers crossed the deal gets ratified soon, just in time for Christmas!
