Saskatoon is adding dedicated bus lanes on College Drive for the $250-million Link bus rapid transit system, opening in 2028. The 1.6 km stretch from Preston to Clarence avenues will include centre-running bus stations and a new north-side bike lane.
Key changes: left turns will be banned at several intersections, and the pedestrian bridge near Griffiths Stadium will be removed. Drivers will face about three extra minutes during rush hour—a frustrating addition on an already busy route.
Coun. Randy Donauer highlighted the impact on motorists and won council support to explore AI-based adaptive traffic signals to ease congestion. Construction starts next year.
How do you think the city should balance faster transit with drivers’ daily commutes?
