Ice fishing season in Saskatchewan is usually about cold snacks and big catches, but things got a little too heated recently on Last Mountain Lake. Conservation officers are looking for tips after a truck-camper style ice shack was spotted engulfed in flames near Regina Beach on March 14th.
Witnesses noted an older, rusty white four-door long box truck towing the white Vanguard shelter shortly before it was unhooked and left to burn. Not exactly the “warm welcome” anyone wants on the ice! With the March 15th deadline for shack removal south of Highway 16 having just passed, this serves as a fiery reminder to keep our lakes clean and safe.
If you recognize the truck or have any info on who owned the camper, give the Turn In Poachers and Polluters (TIPP) line a shout at 1-800-667-7561. Let’s help the officers reel this one in so we can keep our beautiful lakes pristine for next season!
