Pack your patience and maybe a sleeping bag, Saskatoon! The City has officially announced that the University Bridge is taking a “sabbatical” starting April 6th. Because nothing says “Hello, Spring!” quite like a four-month detour that turns your ten-minute commute into a feature-length film.
The arches need some TLC, and College Drive is getting a facelift via “The Link” project. It’s all very coordinated, which is City-speak for “we’re closing everything at once to ensure maximum chaos.” If you’re heading to the U of S or the hospital, private vehicles are officially uninvited to the party.
Unless you drive an ambulance, expect to become very well-acquainted with the Idylwyld traffic jam. On the bright side, by the time the bridge opens in late July, you’ll have finished that 40-episode podcast series you’ve been putting off. Happy detouring, Saskatoon… see you in the gridlock!
