If you’ve spent any time on the internet lately, you’d think the consensus was that we’ve all traded in the “white picket fence” dream for a life of solo travel and very expensive houseplants. But hold onto your rattles, because Statistics Canada just dropped a plot twist: young Canadians are actually getting more excited about starting families.
A fresh study shows that nearly two-thirds of the 15-to-24 crowd are officially catching the “baby bug,” with most aiming for a solid 2.4 kids. It turns out that despite well, everything, young women especially are leaning into the idea of parenthood more than they were just a few years ago.
Sure, we’re still the kings and queens of procrastination… we’re waiting until we’re almost 32 to actually start, probably because we’re busy making sure the nursery won’t be in a walk-in closet. But the takeaway here is actually pretty sweet: even in a wild world, the desire to raise the next generation is winning. We might be “delaying” the start, but the dream of a full house is very much alive.
