If you thought turning 65 meant trading your briefcase for a permanent spot on a lawn chair, think again. According to the latest data from Statistics Canada, a record 15.2% of Canadians aged 65 and older are still punching the clock. That’s the highest number we’ve seen since 1976!
But before you start feeling sorry for them, here’s the kicker: they aren’t all doing it because they have to. In fact, a whopping 80% of these “senior side-hustlers” working part-time say they’re doing it because they actually want to.
Whether they’re showing the Zoomers how it’s done or just need a valid excuse to escape their spouse for a few hours, Canada’s seniors are officially the hardest-working “retirees” on the planet. Who knew that “freedom 65” actually meant freedom to keep working?
Move over, interns… the pros are staying in the game, and they’ve got the vintage cardigans to prove it.
