Remember that cold snap we had on December 13? A poor pup ended up stranded way out on the thin ice of the South Saskatchewan River, right near the University Bridge. My heart skipped just thinking about it.
Our amazing Saskatoon firefighters didn’t hesitate—they launched their inflatable boat, reached the shivering dog, and brought it safely back to shore. No injuries, just a very relieved (and probably cold) furry friend.
Animal control has the dog at the shelter now, waiting for its family to come pick it up—no one’s claimed it yet. Stories like this always remind me how much our first responders rock. Fingers crossed for a quick reunion!
