Ever wonder what happens when the folks guarding Canada’s borders slip up? The Canada Border Services Agency just dropped their first annual misconduct report – think of it as a naughty list for officers.
Out of 364 investigated cases (April 2024–March 2025), a whopping 259 were “founded”… yep, guilty as charged. We’re talking skipped searches, fake statements, database snooping, favoritism for family, and even hanging with drug traffickers or off-duty shenanigans like theft and drunk driving agency vehicles.
Harassment hit 21 cases. Punishments? Mostly slaps on the wrist – training or reprimands – but 4 got fired, 14 quit.
With 17,000 employees, it’s a tiny fraction going rogue. Transparency win? Absolutely – but hey, most officers are heroes keeping us safe!
