Great news for Saskatoon DIYers! The City of Saskatoon has officially introduced a new Homeowner Plumbing Permit, making it easier—and legal—to tackle plumbing projects in your own home. Previously, most of this work required a licensed contractor, but now you can take the lead on renovations, repairs, or extensions.
To be eligible, you must be the legal owner and occupant of the single-family home, and the property cannot be intended for sale or rent. While you’ll be doing the heavy lifting yourself, all work must still meet the National Plumbing Code of Canada to ensure safety.
Ready to start? Applications are handled through the City’s ePermitting platform, where you can submit plans, pay fees, and book the required inspections. It’s a fantastic way to save on costs while ensuring your home remains up to code!
